On the day before, June 27th, his best friend, Sgt James Skalberg, was killed by an IED Explosion. After coming home, Ben struggled with symptoms of PTSD. I am a US Navy Veteran. I served aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) aircraft carrier and worked on the Flight Deck moving and directing the aircraft. Deployed to the Middle East on WestPac 1995. I was Honorably Discharged from the Navy in 1997. Soon after 9/11, I took the test and was the first recruit class hired off the new list of applicants hired by The Columbus Division of Fire on December 7th, 2003. I graduated Paramedic School at the top of my class in 2007.
I currently serve as an Arson K9 Handler for the Department.
I am happily married to my wife, Missy since May 2001. We have two sons. Joey and Braydon. We also have three Labradors. Lucy (Yellow lab), Chesney (Black English Lab), and Harry the Arson Dog (American Black Lab).
